Emory Hancock Allen

Mr. Emory Hancock Allen, age 81 of Ellijay, GA, passed Sunday, October 8th, 2017.

Mr. Allen was born September 1st, 1936 in Atlanta, GA to his late parents Harry Edward and Nancy Cecile Terry Allen.  He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Atlanta, GA and served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1956-1962.  Emory was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dale Hicks Allen; daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley and Joshua Stover of Jasper, GA, Allyson Allen of Chicago, IL, Debbie and Carlton Greer of Woodstock, GA and Donna Allen of Woodstock, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Frankie and Shelby Allen of Homosassa, FL and Mark and Dayna Allen of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Cooper Allen Stover, Clark and Kristy Greer, Trinity Allen, Sara, Morgan, and Heather Allen; great grandchildren, Jace and Jaylen Greer; special friends, Barry, Kathy, Lauren, Aaron, and Abby Bramlett.

Military graveside services will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 from the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 from the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay with Rev. Sharon Watkins, Dr. Thom Shores, Rev. Jerry Stover, and Barry Bramlett officiating and speaking.  Music and vocals will be by Joy Hice and Danny Wilson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Bramlett, Jim Primm, Lee Penland, Robert Westmoreland, Bo Sanford, Billy Huff, and Joshua Stover. 

Graveside inurnment will take place at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. 

Family will receive friends following the service until 5pm on Thursday, October, 12th, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675-8516 in memory of Mr. Allen.
