GySgt. Bobbie Victor Armstrong,U.S.M.C., Ret., age 89 of the Walnut Mountain community, Ellijay, GA passed Thursday afternoon, January 25th, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Armstrong was born March 15th, 1928 in Parkersburg, WV to his late parents Dennis Struman Armstrong and Garnet Gertrude Grimm Armstrong. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay, GA. Bobbie was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, Class of 1946. He was a career Marine, serving during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Bobbie is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Anita Gregory Armstrong.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kathlene and Robert Strock of Sutton, OH, Vickie and Gary Bickler of Jacksonville, FL, Donna Jean Ratliff of Baton Rouge, LA, Anita Settles of Blue Ridge, GA, Kay and Jody Gorman of St. Augustine, FL and Peggy Davis of Vidalia, GA; son, Brian Armstrong of Ellijay, GA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clarice Hellburg of Kissimmee, FL, Sue and Melvin Burkey of Parkersburg, WV and Mary and Karl Snider of Belpre, OH; brother, Dennis R. Armstrong of Parkersburg, WV; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm Monday, January 29th, 2018 from the Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Smedley officiating. Music and vocals will be by Ellen Ottinger. Graveside inurnment will immediately follow the service at the Hope Lutheran Church Columbarium with military graveside rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Family will receive friends from 1pm until the service hour at 2pm on Monday, January 29th, 2018 at the Hope Lutheran Church.
