Mrs. Geraldine Sanford DeFoor, age 81 of the Tails Creek community, Ellijay, GA passed on Wednesday, July 19th, 2017.
Mrs. DeFoor was born to her late parents Lona Maggie Barnes Sanford and Jerry Burt Sanford in Ellijay Georgia, on May 10th, 1936. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and retired after 30 years from Shaw Industries, where she was a carpet inspector. Geraldine is preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Ann Defoor, Retha Boyd, Loreen Bailey, Francis James, Betty Cureton; and her brothers Junior Sanford, J.C. Sanford, L. B. Sanford, and Edward Sanford.
Survivors include husband of 62 years, Cecil E. DeFoor of the home in Ellijay, GA; daughter and son-in-law Deborah & Jim Dotson of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren and spouses, Rev. Jamie & Cindy Dotson of Ellijay, GA, and Brandie & Bryan Thomas of Blue Ridge, GA; greatgrandchildren Abby Dotson, Anna Dotson, Dalton Thomas, Sadie Thomas & Owen Thomas; sister-in-law Judy Sanford, Pat Sanford and Virginia Sanford all of Ellijay, GA.
Funeral services will be at Crossroads Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 with Rev. Jamie Dotson, Rev. Billy Dotson and Rev. Eddie Kerr officiating. Music and vocals will be by Harold Sanford, the Kerr Family, and the Crossroads Baptist Church Choir. Graveside interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. Tracey James, Tyler Smith, Brent Dotson, Burt Dotson, Eddie Sanford, Steve Boyd, Rick Boyd, Greg Boyd, Dewell Sanford, Jack Bailey, and Mitchell James will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4pm until 9pm on Friday, July 21st, 2017 and from 11am until 4pm on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at the Logan Funeral Home.
