Obituary of Russell Crook

Russell Paris Crook, 84, Inverness passed away suddenly at his vacation home in Ellijay, Georgia on October 22, 2017, Russell was born in Hinton, WV, to the late James P. and Clarice (Meadows) Crook and came here in 1980 from Jumping Branch, W.VA He was the former owner and operator of the Rock N' Dirt Excavating Company. He served our country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army and was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church in Floral City, FL.

Left to cherish is memory is his wife of 53 years, Barbara Epperly Crook of Inverness; four children: Cathy Sue Owens of Fostoria, OH; Lisa Peeples and her husband, Danny of Floral City; Sherry Emrick and husband, Al of Inverness; Andrea Smith of Lecanto; 1 sister, Deborah Robinson and husband, Jeff of Mt Clemens, MI; 1 brother, Brice Crook, White Oak, WV; 7 grandchildren: Sean Owens, Adrienne Emrick, Clayton Peeples, Jessica Peeples, Ashley Emrick, Sidney Smith, Allison Smith; 4 great-grandchildren: Parker, Bryson, Carson, and Maverick. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Lewis, Norman, and Myles Crook and a infant sister, Grace.

Russell was a loved, respected and admired as a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Russ knew no stranger. He was no respecter of persons. He didn't care about your station in life. He gave everyone respect. Russ was a bold Ambassador for Jesus. It did not matter who you were or where you were, Russ was going to let you know that Jesus loved you. He was not an eloquent speaker but he was a passionate proclaimer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He didn't judge people. He knew what he was when he gave himself to Jesus and he knew what great miracle Jesus had worked in his life. And simply put, that is what he wanted for you, for me and for every person that crossed his path. For 10 years, Russell traveled all over this country and this earth on mission trips to share the gospel of Jesus. When he was on these trips there was no job too small or unimportant for him. If that job needed to be done and he had the ability to do it, then he did it. He simply wanted to be a part of people getting saved and them having their lives changed because of Jesus. And the person who told Russ that the didn't want any part of it, Russ did not take offense and if their paths crossed again, well, Russ picked up where he left off. Russell Crook's life had been turned upside, or rather right side up, by Jesus Christ and he wanted everybody he met to have that same experience.
