Dr. Hal Fisher Stolz Sr., age 85 of the Coosawattee community Ellijay, GA passed on Monday December 23rd, 2019. Dr. Stolz was born November 21st, 1934 in Columbia, SC. He was a graduate of the Georgia Military Academy, Class of 1952 and the University of Georgia Veterinarian School in 1958. Hal retired honorably from the US Army as a veterinarian with 20 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay. Hal had a passion for swimming and held 2 world records, multiple national records and was a member of the Georgia Aquatic Hall of Fame. His first wife Virginia (Pinson) Stolz preceded him in death.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday December 29th, 2019 from the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay with Dr. Thom Shores and Rev. Allan Tarr officiating. Music will be performed by Mrs. Gabrielle Cornett. A private graveside service will be held at the Ellijay City Cemetery at a later date.
Dr. Stolz is survived by his wife of 8 years, Luellen O. Stolz, sons and daughters-in-law, Hal Fisher Stolz, Jr. & Edye Stolz of Washington, IL, Edward Pinson Stolz and Angie Stolz of Ellijay, GA, grandchildren, Ashlyn & Sean Sargent, Hank, Matt, Zack, Caroline, Levi, Alex, Jacob, Jackson and Luke Stolz, great grandchild, Charlotte Sargent, brother, Irwin “Yutch” and Mary Bell Stolz of Charlotte, NC.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church at 75 McCutchen Street Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Dr. Stolz.
