Mr. James Howard Hensley, age 87 of Ellijay, GA passed away Tuesday May 19, 2020 peacefully at home with his family by his side. James was born on October 27, 1932, in Ellijay, GA, to his late parents Amos and Zella Smith Hensley. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated the Hensley Pallet Company and was also a Home builder and Cabinet Maker. James was a dedicated member of the Berean Baptist Church where he served as a deacon since 1977. He was most proud of church and his family. James is preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Zella Smith Hensley, step-mother, Eddith Hensley, brothers and sister-in-law, Eugene, Delmer, Ed, Elmer, Fred and Mary Hensley, step-brother, Tommy Silvers, step-sister, Stella Jo Chastain, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy Jones, Norman Smith, Chuck Holland, Farrell and Shirley Crooke.
A graveside service for friends and family will be held Thursday at 2:00pm at the Berean Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn Crooke Hensley of Ellijay, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Rhonda H. & Herman Davis of Chatsworth, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Gina Hensley of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren and spouses, Seth (Jennifer) Davis, Hannah (Josh) Jones, Canzady (Brent) Dotson, Melissa (Dustin) Long, and 13 great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in law, Bonnie Hensley Smith of Talking Rock, GA; Teresa (Bob) Parker of Ellijay, GA, Readell H. Holland of Sevierville, TN, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda (Buddy) Talbot, Inez Jones, Vira Hensley, Bernadine Hensley and Edith Hensley all of Ellijay, GA. Many nieces, nephews, a wonderful church family and friends.
