Robert Eugene Morris, age 73 of Ellijay, GA passed away on February 4, 2021. He was born September 9, 1947 to his late parents William Eugene and Ruth Maxine (Hilton) Morris in Lawrence, KS. Robert was of the Methodist faith. Robert served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Robert was a member of VFW and Vietnam Vets Association. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Robert was a former Volunteer Firefighter for the Gilmer County Fire Department and worked with the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer. Robert also started Col. Robert’s Old Time Elixirs. He is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Cheryl Melinda (Lee) Morris, brother, Charles Morris. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Townsend officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the North Ga. Honor Guard and Firefighter Honors by the multi-jurisdictional drill team. Interment will be in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Robert is survived by wife Gloria Morris, Ellijay, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Michael Laxson of Athens, GA, sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lorraine Morris of Blairsville, GA, Chris and Jaye Morris of Dawsonville, GA, and 17 grandchildren,21 great-grandchildren, brothers, David Morris and Michael Morris of Missouri, stepchildren, Donnie Allen, Tammy and Andy Mills. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
