Mr. Joseph David Searcy, age 81 of Cherrylog, GA passed Thursday evening, June 28th, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Searcy was born August 21st, 1936 in Cherrylog, GA to his late parents Alvin Edgar Overton Searcy and Mamie Lee Griffin Searcy. He graduated from Ellijay High School, Class of 1955. David served honorably in the United States Navy from 1957-1965 as a meteorologist. He was a member of N.E. Baptist Church in Doraville, GA. Mr. Searcy spent his career as a barber, and owned and operated Pittsburg Barber Shop, Tucker Hair Salon, and Slight Edge Barber Shop. He was a member of Tucker Masonic Lodge, #42, F & AM, Tucker Shrine Club and was a true sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Searcy and Jean Searcy Towe and his brothers Jerry Searcy and Jack Searcy.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lou Ann Logan Searcy of the home in Cherrylog, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Lorri and John Clifton of Monroe, GA; son, Joseph “Joe” Searcy of Cherrylog, GA; grandchildren, Diane Searcy, Bobby Eaves, Alissa Eaves, and Anna Daughtry; four great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Searcy Hale of Athens, GA and Ruth Searcy Helton of Cherrylog, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Ann Searcy of Morganton, GA and William and Kathy Searcy of Marietta, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 2nd, 2018 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Hagin and Rev. James Holt officiating. Music and vocals will be by Irene Wofford. Military graveside rites will immediately follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Cherry Log Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 2pm until 6pm on Sunday, July 1st, 2018 at the Logan Funeral Home.
