Obituary of Leoma Burgess Quarles

Mrs. Leoma Florence Burgess Quarles, age 93 of the Tails Creek community of Ellijay, passed on Sunday, December 16th, 2018 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital of Jasper.

 

Mrs. Quarles was born on October 8th, 1925 in Ellijay, GA to her late parents, Mattie Davis and Glenn Burgess. Leoma was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and retired from Gold Kist poultry plant with over 29 years of employment. She is preceded in death by her sister, Melanies Burgess Defoor, brothers, Cecil and Emmuel Burgess, and husband, Franklin B. Quarles.

 

 Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 from the Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Dotson officiating, music and vocals will be by Billy and Wanda Davis. Graveside interment will follow in the church cemetery with Ronnie Burgess, Donnie Burgess, Bennie Burgess, Billy Davis, Ken Burgess, and Tony Withrow all serving as pallbearers.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Lois Quarles Pankey of Springfield, OH; son, Michael F. Quarles of Ellijay; grandchildren, Ava Trinkler, Timothy and Benjamin Arnold, and Theresa Pankey; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Emmit and Rosa Lee Burgess of Ellijay. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at the Logan Funeral Home.
